So last week I decided to take my life into my own hands and try paddle boarding for the first time, and no I don’t think this is a dangerous sport, and yes I tend to exaggerate slightly on some things, but when all that stands between you and lake Ontario is a board and the hope of good balance, you all of a sudden become a person that prays quite a bit.
Lucky for me my ass stayed on the board for the entire afternoon but it reminded me of a time when I was out visiting my bro in good ol Winter Peg. He decided to take up wake boarding that year and for some reason the algae in Winnipeg seemed to be a bit more abundant than normal, so you’d be cruising on your board and then all of a sudden it would be solid green, so if there is ever a time when you think please don’t fall in, this was it… Again lucky for me I managed to avoid getting slimmed, but for my brother… not so much.
The problem is that he left me in charge of driving the boat, so for all you little sisters out there, I mean c’mon when you get a chance to torture your big bro and he has no way of retaliating you take it. Needless to say I may have driven into a slime wave and then slowed down just a bit, I mean I was just trying to straighten out the boat. I was by no means doing this on purpose for my own enjoyment. That would just be cruel.
Pretty sure I laughed so hard I may have peed my pants, and I never knew my brother could string together so many four letter words into one sentence. But I learnt two important lessons that day. One, don’t pee your pants and two, be prepared to sleep with one eye open, because you know he’s going to get even.
Or you could try to bribe him with a tasty snack??? Because food + boys = a fail safe way to pull on their heart strings.
Eggy Avocado Mash
1 field tomato sliced
1 hard-boiled egg
1 stalk of celery chopped
1 green onion chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp. avocado oil
This couldn’t be easier to throw together.
Slice up your tomato then in a small bowl toss in your chopped celery, green onion, hard boiled egg and avocado. Mash it all up until it looks like a science experiment.
Top each of your tomato slices with a big scoop of eggy mash, salt and pepper to taste and a little avocado oil on top.
